Investment career

A career at the heart of finance and investing

With more than three decades in asset management and private markets, my career has centred on building businesses and investment teams, raising capital, and managing portfolios for global clients. I now co‑lead Sarasin Bread Street and am a Partner at Sarasin & Partners LLP, having co‑founded the private‑markets specialist Bread Street Capital Partners in 2021.

Sarasin Bread Street develops specialist GP‑led private equity funds, known as GP Vertical™ strategies, and raises capital for these structures alongside leading global GPs.

I cut my teeth in Edinburgh with Franklin Templeton in 1993 as a portfolio accountant, before moving to the City of London in 1995 to join Henderson Administration as a US equity analyst, investing through an extraordinary period of global market growth. Subsequent roles at Deutsche Asset Management (formerly Morgan Grenfell), Aberdeen Standard Investments and Janus Henderson involved running listed investment companies, building alternatives and private equity teams, and helping to integrate major acquisitions across the industry.

Along the way, I have managed both private and public markets portfolios, overseen governance and oversight frameworks, contributed to industry bodies, and engaged regularly with the media.
