Alex surrendered his seals of office at a meeting of the Court of Aldermen on 14 July. Alderman are elected for a period of up to 6 years, and Alex, having won his 2022 election is calling thsi election now to allow him to focus on delivering a professional plan to support his City Sheriff role in 2027/28 (subject to election at 'Common Hall'). The Nominations Committee of the Court of Aldermen met to consider the Independent Panel's appraisal and nomination submissions of Aldermen considering higher Office. The Court's position for 2027/28 is to support Alderman Alexander Barr as Aldermanic candidate for the Office of Sheriff.
